MANUFACTURING
It is important to us that we continue to support local craftspeople. They are essential in preserving the specialty skills of the New Zealand fashion industry.
Our factories and outworkers, dyers and printers span from Auckland to Dunedin. Our talented jewellers reside in Otago which helps to speed up processes and one offs. Their skills, experience, love and wisdom make all of our pieces of the highest quality.
Our thoughtful design considers not only the end product, but also efforts to reduce waste are made along the way. Adjustments are made to designs in the sampling phase, where seams are added or taken away to get better yields, throughout production our cutters may spend extra time mapping out placement to avoid wastage.
Fabric choice plays an important part to the finished product. Each fabric is specifically chosen for each design based on what the individual needs are as designers and wearers, it is a balancing act between originality and functionality.
Through development we select fabrics proven to be both kind to you, our environment and will stand the test of time. We strive to use natural, recycled and renewable fibres for our garments. We often produce and dye our own fabrics to create unique colours/textures in limited runs. A conscious effort is made to incorporate a large proportion of fabric overruns (dead stock) into each collection. Over the last 4 seasons we have increased our use of these fabrics from 45% up to 75% in our collections, we hope to continue this trend in the future.
Everything adds up! And doing our bit to lessen the impact on our environment is important to us.
